Occupational Therapist
The hands on, developmentally based philosophy of Discovery Charter School embodies Lisa Armenta's core values both personally and professionally. Lisa initially joined the Discovery Charter School community as a parent volunteer, running cooking, gardening and handwriting classes. Her oldest daughter Claire is a recent DCS graduate, and her younger daughter is a current middle school student.
Lisa received her BS degree in Psychology from UC Davis and her MS in Occupational Therapy from Boston University. She began her career as an Occupational Therapist at Valley Medical Center working on the Pediatric, Spinal Cord, Outpatient and Neurologic Rehabilitation Clinics. After taking time off to be with her two young daughters, Lisa began consulting with local pre-schools, creating a pre-printing class for 3 and 4 year old students.
Lisa has received training and continuing education in areas such as Neuro Developmental Treatment, Sensory Integration, Handwriting Without Tears, Therapeutic Listening and Vision Therapy. Lisa’s professional emphasis is on collaborative treatment, including the student, family and school professionals in the ongoing treatment plan. She strives to find that 'just right challenge' that empowers students to organize their actions and reach their true potential as lifelong learners.
