Resource Specialist
Tricia was raised in San Dimas, California with aspirations of becoming a teacher. She earned her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Human Development, with minors in Teaching and Sign Language from the University of California, San Diego.
She continued her postgraduate studies at UCSD, ultimately earning her Master’s Degree in Education. While in school, she focused her studies primarily on mathematics and obtained an Elementary Mathematics Emphasis Certification.
Since her graduate work, Tricia continues to dive into the mathematical world learning about strategies from Marilyn Burns, Van de Walle, Cognitively Guided Instruction, etc.
Tricia joined Discovery in our inaugural year and currently serves on our staff leadership team. She previously worked at Discovery Charter Elementary School in Chula Vista, California where she taught a multi-age 2/3 classroom of 37 students.
With a strong belief in developmental education, she designs her lessons and units to challenge each student at his/her individual level. Tricia strongly believes in hands-on activities, parent involvement, flexible grouping, and a positive learning environment.
