4th and/or 5th Grade Teacher (loops with class)
Sarah Brennan was raised in Santa Clara and attended Westwood Open Elementary which was a parent co-op school and is now known as Washington Open. She attended Presentation High School and obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Natural Science from San Jose State University.
Sarah became aware of her fondness for working with children while conducting educational tours for school groups through the Long Marine Lab Museum and Research facility in Santa Cruz.
In 1998, Sarah began her career of working in the classroom when she was recruited by a friend, to work at his school, as a first grade classroom aide. Three years later she was promoted to teaching her own class of third graders. She obtained her teaching credential from California State University, Monterey Bay.
A member of the California Reading Council and the Santa Clara County Reading Council, Sarah views teaching literacy as the most crucial role of teachers. It affects every aspect of education, from science to self-esteem. Sarah would like to continue her education in the area of literacy and is researching Master programs which will allow her to continue her education while still being in the classroom working with children.
Ms. Brennan joined the Discovery team for our inaugural year 06/07 and currently serves as a member of our staff leadership team.
