Physical Education
Stacy is coming to teaching as a second career. Stacy has always been passionate about fitness and has competed in sports since childhood (gymnastics, tennis, soccer, track, bicycling, adventure races, and more). After getting a B.S. in Business from Chico State, she worked at Apple Computer as a Financial Analyst. Then, after getting her MBA from Santa Clara University she worked as a Senior Planning and Support Project Manager at HP. These were jobs that helped support her passion for fitness, travel and the great outdoors. While working she still managed to race mountain bikes competitively on the side.
For the past 6 years, she has been teaching group exercise classes, leading private and semi private Pilates sessions and providing indoor and outdoor personal and group training. She has also lead triathlon training groups, provided coaching for runners and cyclists, and currently teaches a fitness selective at DCS. In all areas of fitness she provides interesting, fun and challenging activities to keep clients and students moving and motivated to reach their goals.
She finds the area of health and fitness fascinating and is committed to keeping current on the latest health and fitness information (i.e. exercise kinesiology, nutrition, mind-body connections, etc.) She attends the IDEA World Fitness Conference every other year and has recently taken 90 hours of intensive Stott Pilates instructor training. Current fitness certifications include: NASM certified personal trainer and certified Spinning instructor (cycling).
Her three children have attended parent participation schools since preschool. She has volunteered in the classroom for 12 years (from preschool classes to eighth grade). She is positive, energetic and truly enjoys working with kids. She is a strong supporter of the Discovery Charter School philosophy. She has been a supporter of and a parent at DCS since it opened it’s doors. As a physical education teacher, "I want to share my knowledge in the areas of health and fitness and inspire our kids to adopt healthy habits for life." This is more than a job for me, this is my passion and a personally rewarding career!
