Curriculum Specialist
Johanna Caslander earned her bachelor's degree from San Jose State University, her teaching credential from Humboldt State University, her master's degree from University of San Francisco and her Educational Administrative Credential from Santa Clara University.
With over 30 years in education, her background in curriculum and staff development is extensive. Johanna began her career as a multiage teacher at Orion School, an alternative school in Redwood City where all of the classrooms are multiage, hands-on and student centered.
She later was promoted to serve the district as Curriculum and Staff developer for the Cooperative Learning Implementation Project where she designed cooperative, hands-on lessons for K-5 students in all subject areas.
In addition to teaching at the elementary level, Johanna has provided consultant services and has served as guest lecturer on Cooperative Learning and Integrated Language Arts for various school districts and universities.
Over the past five years, Johanna has served as a Literacy Specialist, GATE Coordinator, and Interim Principal of Haman Elementary School in the Santa Clara School District where she trained teachers on differentiated instruction.
