2/3 Teacher
Leah grew up in New Jersey and moved to California after earning a BFA in Fine Art and BA in Literature from SUNY Binghamton. She began her career as a preschool teacher/art specialist in Kensington, CA.
In 2004, Leah joined Teach for America and earned her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at San Jose State University while teaching in the Alum Rock School District. She also had the opportunity to participate in the Bay Area Writing Project.
For the past few years Leah has worked at a small school in Oakland as a K/1 Teacher. She had opportunities to work collaboratively on Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop Lessons and small group instruction.
Leah served as a new teacher coach for a 3/4 teacher through BTSA. She also was a new teacher facilitator for Oakland Teaching Fellows and served on the school Leadership Committee. Currently Leah is pursuing a MA in Leadership in the Arts at Bank Street College in Manhattan over the summer.
Leah enjoys cooking with her husband, drawing, hiking and spending time with her nephews. She is thrilled to begin teaching at a community school that values collaboration, high quality curriculum and parent participation.
