Joanne Norlin
Math Specialist

Joanne Norlin was born in Michigan, the daughter of a middle school math teacher. She grew up in San Diego County and graduated from San Diego State University with a Masters degree in Mathematics and a Bachelors degree in Spanish. Joanne holds a lifetime California teaching credential in mathematics, and taught college and university level math for eight and one–half years before starting her family. She has lived in San Jose since 1988.

Joanne is one of the founders of Discovery Charter School, and served five years as Discovery Board Treasurer, through July, 2011. Two of her children also attended Discovery for four years each. She has over 19 years experience in Parent Participation schools with her three children, also serving 5 years as treasurer on their preschool's Board. She tutored high school and college math for many years, and served as a consultant, testing and rewriting portions of a mathematical educational software program for a local bay area company.

In her free time Joanne enjoys star gazing, reading, attending the theatre, spending time with her family, and editing a small circulation newsletter.
