2/3 Teacher
Diane spent the first 10 years of her life on the East Coast, living in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Since then she has lived in Northern and Southern California, except for a couple of years in Sweden.
Diane earned her degree in Mathematics from CSULB, and originally planned to be a math teacher. After falling into software engineering, and enjoying that career for many years, she chose to go back to school, and complete her credential from San Jose State University.
Ten years of volunteering in her children's classrooms was what convinced Diane to return to the career goal of teaching. After completing the credential course work, she did her student teaching in a 4th grade class in Cupertino. She then completed her first year of teaching at that same school.
Diane taught the 1st grade ELD (English Language Development) class, and had 11 different languages in her classroom. During the summers, Diane teaches Science in a GATE program in Saratoga to 2nd -5th graders. She develops new curriculum for this every year.
Diane's philosophy about learning is "use it or lose it! If you are not learning something new, your brain starts to lose its capacity, just like your muscles if you stop exercising, and this is true for teachers, parents, and students."
