7th Grade Teacher
Jason Scott grew up in Washington State, near Seattle. He earned his bachelor's degree in philosophy from St. John's College in New Mexico. Presently, he is completing his master's degree in education and his multiple-subject teaching credential at Stanford University. Before moving to California, Jason worked as the Associate Director of the Santa Fe Children's Museum in Santa Fe, NM. He also has experience as an environmental educator in Grand Teton National Park, and as an ecology research student in Kenya.
Jason is thrilled to be joining the community of Discovery Charter School. He believes passionately in creating a classroom community where students will be supported, challenged, and inspired. Jason focuses his teaching on engaging students in cognitively rich problems that require collaboration, creativity, and critical thought.
Jason is excited to be teaching seventh grade, where his students have many opportunities for student-centered discussions, hands-on investigations, and are encouraged to develop and stretch their identities. He believes it is important for students to be able to connect their learning in the classroom to real, relevant issues in their community and world. Jason is looking forward to working closely and collaboratively with parents in the classroom, and has enjoyed his experience teaching in a parent-involvement school in Mountain View.
