Susan Leftwich earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Texas and her Professional Clear Credential and CLAD Certification from San Jose State University. She recently added a Single Subject Credential in English.

Susan brings years of experience as both an educator and a parent. She began her teaching career as an elementary teacher in Austin, Texas where she taught 2nd and 4th grades.

Upon moving to California, Susan decided to focus on her children's education and became involved in developing a parent participation school in Mountain View and also served as a substitute teacher. She served the Mountain View Whisman School District working with 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. Susan has been teaching at Discovery Charter School as either a 7th or 8th grade teacher for eight years.

Susan has a passion for performing arts and is an active member of High Release Dance company. She was a member of the Board of Directors for Peninsula Youth Theatre, where she coordinated over 100 parent volunteers and produced Anne of Green Gables, The Music Man, and The Wiz.

If there is music and dancing at Discovery, you can bet Susan has something to do with it.
