Valentine's Day in Room 13! :) It was a wonderful day for everyone. My favorite part of the day (besides receiving such sweet valentine's from my students, of course :) ) was watching our whole class be completely captivated with the sing-a-long songs from the movie FROZEN. The students were all singing "Let it Go!" and their little faces and voices were so sweet! :)

Dear Families of Room 13 Students, Welcome to the class website! :) Here is a brief bio of Ileen: Ileen grew up here in San Jose and loves being deeply rooted in the community. She has a wonderful husband and three amazing children ages 18, 16, and 12. Ileen has a Bachelor's degree in English from San Jose State and her Masters degree in Education and her elementary teaching credential from the University of Phoenix. Ileen brings 12+ years of classroom experience to Discovery Charter Two having worked in a variety of roles. She first began by volunteering many hours in her own children's schools and it was these experiences that led to her desire to go back to school and pursue a career in teaching. She has worked as a substitute teacher in the San Jose Unified, Union, and Cambrian School Districts since 2005. She was a lead instructor for Gifted Camps/Start Up Camp for Kids and taught week long summer programs in Communication and Business. She completed a very successful student teaching experience in K-1 and 3rd classrooms. She has also been working for Knowledge Quest Learning Center as a reading and math teacher. Ileen worked off site at a Title One School providing supplemental education services for students struggling in reading. She also worked on site at KQLC with 2nd through 5th grade students tailoring instruction to meet their individual needs and overcome their learning obstacles. Ileen loves spending time with her family and friends and volunteering with Young Life, a non profit organization that reaches out to middle school and high school students. She especially enjoys encouraging others to discover their interests and strengths and then watching them use those to achieve their goals and make a positive difference in the lives of others. Ileen is very thankful and excited to be a part of creating a whole new learning community at Discovery Charter Two and is looking forward to an incredible first year together!
