What
Parent Ed: Scott Fried "How to talk to the Creature in Your Car"
When
5/23/2017, 7:00 PM 9:00 PM

Scott offers a 90-minute talk for the parents and grandparents in the community about how to effectively communicate with a teenager. It is whimsically called, "How To Talk to the Creature in Your Car: A Survival Guide for Parents of Teens." It is a moving talk, as he reveals the secrets most teens would like to keep from their parents, giving detailed personal accounts of teens from around the world. Most importantly, this talk offers many specific ideas and techniques on parenting a teenager through this difficult time of adolescent angst and their experiences as the newest members of the teenage community. Most of the parents who attend this lecture will laugh and cry their way through the 90 minutes. I have included a link to a two-minute video of Scott’s work with parents and grandparents.

This lecture is so impactful and informative that Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence would like to publish it as a curriculum. It is a tremendous honor for Scott to have the opportunity to share this lecture with our community.
