In August last year Kaboom (a non profit organization that envisions a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America) and the United Neighborhoods of Santa Clara identified the neighborhoods around the Payne/Eden/WInchester area as a good location for a small neighborhood park.
The closest public park is a mile away and 35% of the children living south of Payne near Eden live in households within comes below the poverty line. The church Pueblo de Dios has offered land on church property to build a playground.
Discovery would like to support our neighborhood and neighbors by helping. There is a need for donations to support the event, and there is also a need for volunteers to help with building of the playground.

Better yet come join us on March 5 or March 7 to help prep and
then build the site! (No skill necessary just lots of enthusiasm and spirit)
Preparation Day March 5 (Wednesday) 8am - 5pm
Prep Day volunteers work on getting all of the materials ready for the Build day.
Activities such as: inventory parts, painting & prepping materials, getting gardens ready… (May be a second prep day March 6th if needed)
Build Day March 7 (Friday) 8am - 3pm
Volunteers will be randomly assigned to help with installation, mulch movement, painting, side projects, and more.
