Mindfulness is the practice or capability to be fully present with one’s actual moment to moment experience as it is arising, without judgement and without the mind trying to make it different. Mindfulness not only helps you as an individual, it helps those around you, in particular your children. Mindful parenting can take out the stress of raising our children in our fast pace, busy and always connected world.

Mindful parenting will enable you to:

Notice your own feelings when you are in challenging situations with your child
Pause before responding
Have a deep awareness of your own stress reactions
Increase your ability to respond more skillfully to the unplanned and sometimes stressful moments with your child
Regulate your own emotions and reactions and be more attuned and sensitive to your child’s needs
Reduce stress and improve your relationship with your child
Model and teach your child emotional strength and well-being
Bring your whole self to parenting
In this session, through discussion and small group exercises we will uncover the many micro moments for mindful parenting, tips and techniques to practice mindfulness for the benefit of you, your child and your relationship along with resources available to you to build your mindfulness!

This session will be led by Shanna Gardner, a local working mom of twin boys, and an experienced and professional facilitator of both corporate and personal development workshops. She values and has deep and meaningful relationships with the people in her life. She loves all things that have to do with an active lifestyle, whether that be yoga, running or playing soccer with her boys. She meditates daily to keep grounded and is grateful to experience this thing we call life. Join her as she leads us, together, in an experience we will be able to immediately put into practice.

Thanks,
The Parent Ed Team
