I grew up in Ridgecrest, CA, jewel of the Mojave Desert. After high school I moved to Arcata, CA, and attended Humboldt State,m eventually graduating with a Liberal Studies Elementary Education degree.
After college I moved to Santa Cruz and worked as a one-to-one aide to students with special needs for three years. I eventaully was accepted to the UCSC education graduate program and earned a Master’s Degree/Credential.
Every job I have has has been working with kids in some way: coaching basketball, working at after school programs, tutoring, and working with students with special needs. Teaching is the continuation of that career path. I have taught middle school at DCS since 2009 and especially enjoy chemistry and language arts. Grammar is kind of my thing. I also coach the middle school boys basketball team and am the student council advisor.
In my free time I like to play basketball, watch sports on T.V., listen to music, see live music, and travel. I go to Yosemite every summer, and going on field trips with my class is one of the best parts of the job
